Unified Voicemail

Every customer will have access to one simple voicemail system that would allow the customer to have one voicemail service for all of their telephone numbers. Therefore, if you have a home phone line, and a cellular phone line, both numbers will go to the one voicemail box. This system is managed by Ka-Tel which is the service line provider. Anyone that needs just a voicemail line will be able to get this line from Ka-Tel even if there are carriers. This allows you to access all of your voicemails from any of your devices – therefore making things so much easier for the owner.

In example, someone could call my home phone, and if I am not home, then they will leave a voicemail. Within a minute, my cellular phone will show that I have the voicemail. If I have a smartphone, then visual voicemail will be offered and supported. I could see the caller, and decide if I need to listen to their voicemail. Likewise, my cellular phone could be charging, and someone will leave a voicemail. I can the dial *86 on my home phone to listen to all of my voicemail.

The number(s) owner may not want to use the voicemail system. Maybe they have a telephony server that would handle all of the voicemail. They will simply log into the web portal or through the handheld app, and turn of voicemail. Once that happens, the customer is responsible for all of the voicemail solutions. This is especially good for large businesses that would have multiple departments, and multiple people that would need a unique voicemail solution just for them while still carrying the business name. This is where a telephony server will come in.

In addition, some DECT? phone systems may have a voicemail machine integrated into the base station. They can choose to turn off voicemail, but then any calls to the cellular phone will not have a voicemail capability attached unless you forward incoming cellular calls to the home phone. You would not know when someone called you and you’re not home. For a personal service, it makes no sense to not use the unified voicemail solution.
