KaTel will be the only telephone provider in the country. They will support both landline and cellular phones. They will also use a digital network which will phase out the POTS (Plain Ordinary Telephone System) to an IP based phone system. Each telephone number will have two extensions – one for voice and one for fax.
All telephone numbers will be in a 12 digit number with the first 3 digits being a calling code (such as government or toll free). Making a call will be as simple as dialing the 12 digit number and pressing send. For faxes – *99 must be dialed before the telephone number to let the system know this is a fax call, and not a voice call. For faxes, the call will go to the registered fax line or converted into a .pdf and emailed to the recipient.
